You've probably seen it – a small, circular logo with a capital B inside it. Maybe you've spotted it on our window, on our bags, or tucked into the footer of our website. It's easy to skim past without a second thought, but for us at Seekers, that little symbol carries a lot of weight.
This March, for B Corp Month 2026, we want to take a moment to explain what it actually means – and why we think it matters more than ever.
What the Symbol Stands For
The B Corp logo isn't a marketing badge or a self-declared claim. It's independently verified. To earn it, businesses must pass a rigorous assessment across five areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. The bar is high, the process is thorough, and recertification is required every three years to ensure standards are maintained – not just achieved once and forgotten.
When you see the B on our window, it means that Seekers has been measured against those standards and found to meet them. It means we've made legal commitments to consider the impact of our decisions on everyone they affect – not just our bottom line.
What It Means to Us in Practice
We began our B Corp journey in 2022 and achieved certification in August 2023, becoming Australia's first Certified B Corporation optometrist. That milestone didn't mark the end of something; it marked the beginning of a higher level of accountability.
In practice, the B Corp commitment shows up in the everyday fabric of how we run Seekers. It's in our Seekers Supports program, through which our clients vote on local charities to receive quarterly donations. It's in our Re-lens and Refurbish services, designed to keep frames out of landfill. It's in our partnerships with TerraCycle, Spexcycle, and the Lions Recycle for Sight initiative. It's in our green energy, our bicycle couriers, our recycled packaging, and our banking with fellow B Corp, Bank Australia.
None of these are one-off gestures. They're how we've chosen to operate – and the B Corp framework holds us to it.
Why a Symbol Can Be a Signal
Symbols only mean something if they're backed up by substance. The B Corp logo works because the community behind it takes that seriously. Every certified business has gone through the same rigorous process. Which means when you choose to support a B Corp – whether that's your optometrist, your bank, your favourite brewery, or your local café – you are sending a signal too.
You are saying that how a business operates matters to you. That profit and purpose aren't mutually exclusive. That the businesses you spend your money with are a reflection of your values, not just your preferences.
That's why we love this year's B Corp Month theme. A simple symbol, a powerful signal works in both directions. It's a signal from us to you about who we are and what we stand for. And every time you walk through our door, it's a signal back to us that this approach to business is worth championing.
Celebrating the Wider Community
We are also proud to be part of a growing movement of B Corps right here in Melbourne and across Australia – businesses like Heaps Normal, Minimum Wines, and Aesop, who are proving that doing good and doing well aren't at odds with each other.
Throughout March, we'll be sharing more about the B Corps we admire, the initiatives we're proud of, and the community that makes all of this feel worthwhile. Follow along on our socials, come say hello in store, and if you've ever been curious about what the B on our window means – this is the story behind the symbol.
